Position Overview
The New Patient Coordinator Dental Assistant will manage the complete new patient journey, from the first phone call through the patient intake appointment. This position combines front office communication skills with chairside clinical responsibilities.
This team member will guide patients through a detailed and educational new patient process while helping them feel comfortable, informed, and excited about their care.
Responsibilities
Front Office & Scheduling Duties
- Complete new patient calls and follow up with all new patient inquiries
- Complete new patient intake forms with patients
- Collect and verify insurance information
- Explain our comprehensive new patient process
- Schedule new patient appointments and sleep screening pick-ups
- Collect new patient fees at the time of scheduling
- Request previous dental records and sleep studies
- Collect Medical and Dental Histories
- Obtain Medication Lists
- Ensure all patient records are uploaded prior to appointments
Clinical New Patient Appointment Duties
- Review and confirm medical histories
- Obtain panoramic and bitewing radiographs
- Take full mouth intraoral photographs
- Capture iTero scans
- Capture 3D imaging as needed
- Chart missing teeth and existing restorations
- Complete Advanced Oral Cancer Screening
- Support hygienists and doctors during comprehensive evaluations
- Provide patient education regarding: Occlusal wear, Crowding and malocclusion, Clear aligners, Caries risk, Oral hygiene, Nutrition counseling, Tobacco cessation, Dental sleep medicine screening, and Preventive and elective procedures
Product & Treatment Education
Recommend home care products based on individual patient needs, including:
- Sonicare
- Waterpik
- Prevident
- OraCare
- Fluoride treatments
- Adult sealants
Additional Responsibilities
- Discuss our community outreach programs and patient opportunities
- Help create a welcoming, faith-based environment
- Deliver exceptional customer service and patient education
- Maintain accurate documentation and workflow organization
Qualifications
- Dental assisting experience preferred, but not required. On the job training can be provided.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable educating patients and discussing treatment options
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to make patients feel comfortable and valued
- Experience with digital dentistry and imaging is a plus
Hours
MT: 7:30-5:30, W: 7:30-7:30, R: OFF, F: 7:30-2:30
