SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Materials Planner/Scheduler is responsible for ensuring that production has the right materials, in the right place, at the right time. This role bridges the gap between procurement, production, and logistics – driving on-time delivery, supplier performance, and inventory accuracy across the organization.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities shift daily. Experience with ERP systems (PLEX, SAP, or similar systems) and strong communication across teams will be key to success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes, but may not be limited to the following

  • Plans and schedules material requirements to meet production demands and maintains safety stock levels.
  • Forecasts supply needs, monitory usage trends, and proactively adjusts replenishment strategies.
  • Manages supplier relationships, issues Pos, tracks deliveries, and expedites orders when needed.
  • Coordinates shipping and delivery schedules to customers in alignment with production capacity.
  • Maintains ERP data integrity (PLEX preferred), including BOMs, lead times, and order status.
  • Identifies and resolves material shortages or bottlenecks using root-cause problem solving.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives to streamline material flow and reduce waste.
  • Prepares and analyzes regular reports on inventory, supplier performance, and schedule adherence.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with production, purchasing, engineering, and quality to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Minimizes obsolete inventory and manages the disposition of surplus materials.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field – or 3-5 years of equivalent experience in manufacturing planning/scheduling.
  • 1-5 years’ hands-on ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) System experience (PLEX, SAP, or similar system)
  • Proven track record in managing material flow in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and cross-departmental collaboration abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • APICS or similar certification (CPIM, CSCP)
  • Experience in metal stamping, machining, or a high-volume manufacturing environment

Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, personnel policies, graphs, and other production documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior leaders, departmental managers, and directors.

Work Environment - This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The employee is occasionally exposed to conditions such as dirt, grease, and oil.

Physical Demands - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job in an office setting and on the manufacturing floor. Employees may be exposed to loud noise while on the manufacturing floor. Hearing Protection is required. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 20 pounds on a daily basis.
