Where you fit in

The Next Gen Ministry Lead (3rd–5th Grade) provides leadership, vision execution, and volunteer development for the 3rd–5th Grade ministry at the Windmill campus. This role is responsible for cultivating engaging environments, developing volunteer leaders, partnering with families, and creating ministry experiences that help kids know Jesus, build community, and grow in their faith.

This position plays an important role in helping the church accomplish its mission by fostering and engaging in Godly relationships among kids, parents, volunteers, staff, ministry leaders, and internal ministry teams. This role is ideal for a relational and energetic leader who is passionate about discipling kids, developing volunteers, and creating environments where children can experience Jesus in a fun, safe, and meaningful way. The person in this role will bring strong leadership instincts, communication skills, organizational abilities, and a heart for helping the next generation take their next steps with Jesus. What You'll Be Doing


Volunteer Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain adult and student volunteers serving within the 3rd–5th Grade ministry
  • Build healthy volunteer culture through coaching, encouragement, discipleship, and leadership development
  • Identify and develop high-capacity leaders and create opportunities for increased leadership responsibility
  • Provide ongoing training, resources, and support to ensure volunteers are equipped and confident in their roles
  • Care for volunteers through intentional relationship-building, encouragement, and spiritual investment
  • Champion volunteer engagement and help identify future Activators, leaders, and emerging student volunteers
Ministry Leadership & Discipleship
  • Lead the execution of ministry vision and strategy for the 3rd–5th Grade environment at the Windmill campus
  • Create engaging environments that help kids connect with Jesus, build friendships, and grow spiritually
  • Serve as the key communicator and teacher within the ministry environment
  • Partner with families to support the spiritual development of their children
  • Help facilitate the transition process from Kids Crossing into Student Ministries
  • Develop opportunities for kids to take ownership of their faith and engage in the life of the church
Parent Partnership & Care
  • Build meaningful relationships with parents and caregivers as partners in discipleship
  • Partner with the Family Care Pastor to support providing communication, resources, and encouragement that supports spiritual conversations at home
  • Help families take next steps in the life of the church and Next Generation ministry
  • Partner with families during key milestones and transitions within Kids Crossing
Weekend Experience & Programming
  • Partner with Next Gen leadership to create and execute engaging weekend experiences for 3rd–5th Grade students
  • Implement curriculum, teaching elements, games, worship experiences, and small group environments that help kids connect with Jesus and biblical truth
  • Prepare volunteers and ministry environments to deliver excellent weekend experiences
  • Evaluate ministry effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve engagement, learning, and discipleship
  • Help create memorable experiences that reinforce biblical truth and practical application
Events, Camps & Special Initiatives
  • Partner with the Next Gen team to plan, coordinate, and execute camps, special events, and ministry initiatives
  • Help lead and support Kids Crossing camps and large-scale ministry experiences
  • Partner with The Crossing Students team to support 5th Grade transition experiences
  • Participate in churchwide events and Next Generation initiatives as assigned
  • Support strategic efforts to engage families and strengthen connections within the ministry
Ministry Operations & Stewardship
  • Maintain volunteer schedules, communication systems, and ministry organization through Planning Center, Rock, Google Workspace, and related systems
  • Manage small group placement and ongoing maintenance of kids and leaders, including healthy leader-to-student ratios
  • Help ensure ministry environments remain safe, organized, welcoming, and adequately supplied
  • Partner with the Next Gen team to uphold safety, security, and operational standards
  • Help steward ministry resources, equipment, and budget allocations responsibly
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with ministries, campuses, and Central teams to support churchwide ministry initiatives
  • Contribute to churchwide events, leadership initiatives, and ministry efforts as needed
  • Help foster a healthy, collaborative, and mission-driven staff culture
  • Provide leadership, support, and problem-solving in fast-paced and evolving ministry environments
  • Perform other ministry-related responsibilities as assigned in support of the mission, vision, and values of The Crossing

What You'll Bring To The Team


Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum Experience: Two years of experience leading volunteers, ministry environments, educational programs, or related leadership responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence kids, volunteers, and families through strong leadership and Christ-centered example
  • Strong communication, relational, and organizational skills
  • Strong technology experience including Planning Center, ProPresenter, Google Workspace, Rock, Asana, and related ministry platforms
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, leadership, child development, or a related field
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Three years of experience serving in a kids ministry, church, nonprofit, or related leadership environment
    • Experience recruiting, developing, and leading volunteer teams
    • Experience teaching and communicating to elementary-age children
    • Experience partnering with families and leading ministry programs
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check
  • Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States
