Core responsibilities
- Patient Care: Provide specialized care to critically ill and premature infants.
- Monitoring: Continuously monitor vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) and overall condition.
- Medication and Treatment: Administer medications, IV fluids, and nutrition as prescribed by physicians, which may involve complex calculations and double-checking.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and monitor medical equipment such as ventilators, incubators, and phototherapy lights.
- Assessment and Procedures: Perform diagnostic tests and assist in procedures like IV cannulation.
- Family Support: Educate and provide emotional support to parents and families regarding the infant's condition and care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and document all care provided.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.

Required skills and qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Experience in NICU, pediatric, or critical care settings
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Strong clinical skills in areas like ventilator management, IV therapy, and patient assessment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
