PDQ Powders is a fast-growing contract manufacturer specializing in powder supplement packaging. We are looking for a Night Maintenance / Machine Operator to operate and maintain our stick-pack packaging equipment while ensuring smooth overnight production.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, troubleshooting equipment, and keeping production running efficiently.
Job Overview
The Night Shift Operator / Maintenance Technician operates stick pack production equipment while performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to maximize uptime, quality, safety, and production efficiency.
This position supports single-lane and multi-lane stick pack machines, conveyors, packaging equipment, and related production systems. The role also assists with preventive maintenance programs and facility upkeep.
Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Operation
- Operate stick-pack packaging machines during production runs
- Load film and set up machines for production
- Load product into machine hoppers
- Monitor machine performance and product flow
- Verify weights and seals of completed stick packs
- Maintain continuous production by keeping hoppers full
Equipment Maintenance
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair packaging and production equipment
- Perform mechanical and basic electrical repairs
- Respond quickly to machine breakdowns
- Break down, clean, and reassemble machines between production runs
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM)
Production Support
- Maintain maintenance logs and repair documentation
- Identify equipment wear or improvement opportunities
- Assist with spare parts tracking
- Support facility maintenance (lighting, minor repairs, plumbing)
- Maintain cleaning procedures and production SOPs
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all cGMP, SOP, batch record, and Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Assist with safety inspections and compliance programs
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of manufacturing, maintenance, or machine operation experience
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with production or packaging machinery
- Ability to read manuals, diagrams, and technical instructions
- Basic math skills
- Ability to work independently during night shift
Preferred Experience
- Stick pack or packaging machine experience
- Food, beverage, nutraceutical, or GMP manufacturing experience
- Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge
- Welding, fabrication, or machining experience
- CMMS or maintenance tracking software experience
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, reaching, climbing, and equipment handling
- Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to work around manufacturing machinery and noise
- May require respirator use in dusty environments
