Position Overview

GATOR Transportation & Energy Services is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair our fleet of pressure washers, pickup trucks, hotshot trucks, semi-trucks, pumps, and hydrovacs. This role is critical in keeping our fleet operational and ensuring reliability in the field.

Reports to: Service Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics & Repairs – Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on pressure washers, pickup trucks, hotshot trucks, semi-trucks, pumps, and hydrovacs.
  • Preventative Maintenance – Conduct routine inspections, oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and system checks to minimize downtime.
  • Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems – Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic components, including those on hydrovacs and pumps.
  • Engine & Transmission Work – Perform repairs on diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, cooling systems, and exhaust systems.
  • Electrical Systems – Diagnose and repair wiring, lighting, battery systems, and electronic controls.
  • Welding & Fabrication – Handle minor welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
  • DOT Compliance & Safety – Ensure all maintenance and repairs align with DOT and OSHA standards.
  • Record-Keeping – Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Field Repairs – Respond to equipment breakdowns and conduct on-site repairs when necessary.
  • Reporting – Provide regular maintenance updates and repair reports to the Service Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years as a mechanic, preferably in diesel repair, fleet maintenance, or industrial equipment repair.
  • Certifications (Preferred): ASE Certification, DOT Inspection Certification, Hydrovac or Pump-specific training.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnostic tools, hydraulic systems, electrical troubleshooting, and welding.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in outdoor conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Driver’s License: Valid CDL or standard driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
