JOB STATEMENT/PURPOSE:
Maintains the necessary upkeep of public areas, restrooms, paths and buildings. Also acts as security patrol, conducting routine visual inspections of the facility. This is a part-time position two (2) to three (3) per week from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans and stocks all restrooms.
- Removes trash from various locations.
- Notifies supervisor, senior staff members or emergency services of any situation requiring immediate or prompt attention.
- Secures premises by patrolling property and visually inspecting all gates, entrances and exits.
- Completes daily reports to detail any irregularities that occurred during shift.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
- Ability to drive a zoo vehicle.
- Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule.
- Ability to observe safety and security procedures and comply with policies.
- Valid driver’s license required.

- Arrive on time and demonstrate effective time management.
- Maintain effective and positive working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
- Other tasks as assigned based on needs of the business.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in Alaska weather extremes.
- Job will generally be performed outside with moderate to extreme noises, pollens, dusts, and molds.
