NJ PIP No Fault Medical Biller

Overview
Join our dynamic team as a NJ PIP No-Fault Medical Biller, where your expertise will play a critical role not only in billing, but in driving successful legal recovery against insurance carriers. This is a unique opportunity to work within a law firm environment, where medical billing is directly integrated into litigation and arbitration strategy.

In this role, you will manage medical billing procedures specific to auto accident (PIP) claims for imaging and medical providers, ensuring compliance with New Jersey no-fault regulations while also supporting active legal matters against insurance companies. Your work will directly impact case outcomes, reimbursement success, and the strength of our legal claims.

Unlike traditional billing roles, you will collaborate closely with attorneys and claims professionals to identify improper denials, prepare appeals, and build cases for arbitration, making this a highly strategic and impactful position.

Duties

  • Prepare and submit accurate NJ PIP no-fault claims using EMR/EHR systems in compliance with state regulations
  • Ensure all billing aligns with NJ PIP fee schedules, coding standards, and Decision Point Review (DPR) requirements
  • Identify billing issues that may support legal action, including improper denials, underpayments, and policy violations
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through strategic medical collection efforts and prepare comprehensive pre- and post-service appeals
  • Work directly with the legal team to escalate unresolved claims into arbitration, including organizing billing records, EOBs, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain detailed, litigation-ready documentation of medical records, billing activity, and carrier correspondence
  • Collaborate with providers, insurance adjusters, and attorneys to resolve discrepancies and strengthen claim positioning
  • Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for patterns of improper reimbursement or systemic carrier issues
  • Stay current on ICD-10, CPT coding updates, NJ PIP regulations, and evolving insurance carrier practices

Requirements

  • Proven experience in medical billing, with a strong preference for NJ PIP / no-fault or personal injury billing
  • Working knowledge of NJ PIP regulations, fee schedules, and insurance claim workflows
  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT coding, and medical terminology
  • Experience handling denials, appeals, and insurance follow-up required; litigation/arbitration exposure is a strong plus
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends in denials and underpayments
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with medical providers, insurance carriers, and legal professionals

Why This Role is Different

  • Work inside a law firm environment, not a traditional billing company
  • Direct involvement in legal strategy and arbitration against insurance carriers
  • Opportunity to maximize recoveries beyond standard billing through appeals and litigation support
  • Be part of a data-driven, high-performance team focused on efficiency, results, and client success

Closing
Join us in redefining medical billing within the legal space. Your expertise will not only ensure accurate billing, but will directly contribute to holding insurance carriers accountable and maximizing recoveries for our clients.
