Non-Emergency Medical Transport (NEMT) Driver

Companion Driver (NEMT) — Paid Training, Company Vehicle, Flexible Shifts
Location: Benton County
Status: Full-time and Part-time
Pay: $17.00/hour

ATTN: ONLY APPLY IF YOU LIVE IN THE AREA BETWEEN DEPOT BAY AND LINCOLN CITY

The work:
We provide non-emergency medical transportation for people who rely on us to get to care safely and on time. As a Companion Driver, you’re not just moving vehicles; you’re supporting real people at important moments.

This role includes operating large wheelchair-accessible vans; these are not standard passenger cars. You’ll be responsible for safely handling a larger vehicle, managing space, visibility, and smooth driving while transporting passengers who may be in wheelchairs or have mobility needs.

If you take pride in calm professionalism, clear communication, and doing the small things right, you’ll fit here.

Our riders trust us with their health, comfort, and dignity. That trust is earned by drivers who are safety-first, respectful, and reliable. We’ll give you training, tools, and a supportive team; you bring the mindset and consistency.

What you’ll do
Drive safely to medical appointments, therapies, and essential stops; managing time so riders aren’t rushed; while confidently operating a large wheelchair-accessible van in a variety of environments (tight parking lots, clinics, highways, rural roads).

Communicate clearly with Dispatch using our apps for routing, updates, and rider status.

Assist and secure wheelchairs and mobility devices correctly, treating every rider with respect.

Keep vehicles ready; daily inspections, cleanliness, and basic reporting for maintenance.

Be a steady presence; patient, kind, and attentive to what each rider needs to feel comfortable.

You’ll be great here if you…
Have experience in caregiving, healthcare, customer service, or similar service roles.

Are dependable, unflappable, and good at making people feel at ease.

Are comfortable driving larger vehicles such as vans or trucks, or are willing to learn and build that confidence through training.

Handle last-minute changes without drama; you show up for the rider and the team.

Are confident with smartphones for navigation, messaging, and simple forms.

Are physically capable of assisting with securements and vehicle ramps. With or without reasonable accommodation, you can regularly move up to 50 lbs and occasionally push or guide a wheelchair with an occupant.

Care about safety; you follow protocols because they keep people safe.

MUST-haves:

  • Open availability, including early starts (as early as 5:00 a.m.)
  • Are VERY confident in your ability to learn new mobile phone applications and Android Tablets.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (5+ years)
  • Age 25+ to meet insurance requirements for company vehicles
  • FBI fingerprint background check and MVR clearance
  • Comfortable driving large wheelchair-accessible vans in low light and on longer routes (up to ~100 miles for appointments)
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice-to-haves:

Prior NEMT, EMT, CNA, MA, caregiver, or paratransit experience

Experience driving vans, shuttle vehicles, or delivery vehicles

Familiarity with HIPAA basics, defensive driving, or wheelchair securement

Schedule & support
Flexible shifts; days, evenings, and split shifts available

Home-based clock-in with company vehicle pickup as assigned

Dedicated dispatcher support; we solve problems together

Pay & benefits
$17.00/hour starting pay

Company vehicle and fuel card while on duty

Paid training (including wheelchair-accessible van operation and wheelchair securement)

A team-first culture that values clear communication and growth

We’re an Equal Opportunity Employer and a COBID-certified MBE. We value neurodiversity and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you need a reasonable accommodation at any stage, tell us and we’ll make it work.
