Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Driver

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Transport Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting passengers and goods to various locations while providing excellent customer service. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to maintain vehicles, and a commitment to safety.

Duties

  • Safely transport clients to and from medical facilities, clinics, pharmacies, rehabilitation centers, and residences.
  • Provide door-to-door or curb-to-curb service based on client needs and company protocols.
  • Assist passengers in and out of the vehicle as needed, including those with walkers, wheelchairs, or other mobility devices.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism at all times.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules from dispatch while adapting to real-time changes when necessary.
  • Ensure vehicle is clean, well-maintained, fueled, and in proper working condition before and after each shift.
  • Complete daily vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
  • Accurately document pick-up and drop-off times, mileage, client signatures, and any incidents in daily logs or via electronic systems.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to patient privacy (HIPAA compliance).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with passengers and team members.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices is a plus.
  • A commitment to safety and adherence to traffic regulations.
  • Previous experience in customer service is highly desirable.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid IN driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • At least 22 years of age
  • Previous experience in passenger transportation, healthcare, or customer service preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical (if applicable).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and assist passengers as needed (may include lifting up to 50 lbs).
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation and mobile dispatch systems a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily operates a company-owned passenger vehicle (van, wheelchair-accessible vehicle, or sedan).
  • Frequent driving and interaction with clients in urban, suburban, or rural areas.
  • May be exposed to varying weather conditions and traffic environments.

Schedule:

  • Flexible scheduling may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on client needs.
