Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Driver

Job Summary

Join our team as a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver and become a vital part of providing safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation services for individuals with medical needs. In this energetic role, you will operate specialized vehicles to transport clients to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and other essential destinations. **Please note that given hourly rates reflect an average taken from recent payroll. All of our drivers work on commission, earning a flat loading fee plus mileage for each trip taken. Commission rates are given in writing to each applicant and every driver sees their commissions as they earn them.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate shuttle buses, limousines, or other commercial vehicles to transport clients to scheduled appointments and destinations.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and exiting vehicles, ensuring comfort and safety at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of vehicles, including routine inspections and reporting any issues promptly.
  • Communicate clearly with clients to confirm schedules, provide directions, and address any special needs or concerns.
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to ensure secure transportation operations.
  • Manage paperwork such as trip logs, mileage records, and client documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Handle heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility devices or luggage, demonstrating compassion and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Valid NYS Class E license or CDL A, B, or C with P (passenger) endorsement
  • 3 year driving record to prove clean driving record
  • If CDL, a copy of your most recent DOT physical or the ability to pass a new one
  • Prior experience in shuttle driving, delivery driving, bus driving, or taxi driving is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability in commercial driving environments with a valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type
  • Experience working as a transportation or paratransit driver is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics to perform routine checks and identify potential issues early.
  • Familiarity with heavy lifting techniques to assist passengers safely when needed.
  • Previous roles involving school bus driving or other public transit services are advantageous but not required.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
