Position Summary:
The Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver is an independent contractor responsible for safely and professionally transporting patients between residences, medical providers, pharmacies, and other approved locations. Drivers must adhere to all HIPAA regulations, maintain strict medical and company confidentiality, and ensure timely completion of all assigned transportation and prescription delivery services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport patients to and from:
- Medical appointments
- Healthcare providers
- Pharmacies
- Other authorized non-emergency destinations
- Maintain professionalism, discretion, and respect when interacting with patients and healthcare staff
- Follow all HIPAA and medical confidentiality requirements at all times
- Keep all patient medical information strictly confidential
- Keep all company information, procedures, pricing, contracts, and client details confidential
- Accurately follow trip instructions, schedules, and routing requirements
- Maintain clear communication regarding trip status, delays, or issues
- Report completed trips and required documentation per company guidelines
Vehicle & Equipment Requirements:
- Must provide and operate their own personal vehicle
- Vehicle must be:
- Clean, safe, reliable, and in good working condition
- Properly registered and insured per state requirements
- Contractor is solely responsible for:
- Fuel ( possibly covered by company)
- Maintenance
- Repairs
- Insurance
- Registration
- Any vehicle-related expenses
Compliance & Confidentiality:
- Must comply with HIPAA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Must not disclose, share, or misuse:
- Patient medical information
- Personal identifying information
- Company data or operational details
- Any breach of confidentiality may result in immediate contract termination and potential legal action
Independent Contractor Acknowledgment:
- This position is 1099 Independent Contractor, not an employee role
- Contractor is responsible for:
- All federal, state, and local taxes
- Licensing requirements (if applicable)
- Insurance coverage
- No benefits, workers’ compensation, or unemployment insurance are provided
Required Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check and motor vehicle record check
- Ability to follow schedules and meet time-sensitive deliveries
- Strong communication and professionalism
- Reliable availability during assigned service hours
- Ability to lift and assist with light items (prescriptions, medical bags, etc.)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
