Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Driver (Full-time)

Full-Time Metro Richmond, VA

We are seeking a dependable and professional Driver for Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) who understands that while this role is compliance-driven, it is ultimately people-centered. Our drivers provide more than transportation — they offer reassurance, dignity, and exceptional care to passengers of all ages.

Position Summary

The NEMT Driver is responsible for safely transporting clients to and from medical appointments throughout the Metro Richmond area using a company-provided vehicle. This role requires assisting passengers with varying mobility needs while consistently delivering courteous, compassionate, and professional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a company-provided vehicle to transport passengers to medical appointments and designated locations.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including individuals using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility devices.
  • Secure passengers and mobility equipment in accordance with safety and compliance standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained vehicle; report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Follow assigned schedules and routes, communicating promptly regarding delays or concerns.
  • Provide exceptional customer service through patience, courtesy, and clear communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and company policies.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism and compassion in all interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Virginia driver’s license held for a minimum of two (2) years.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Must have the Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) Trainer and Driver Certification (or able to obtain).
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
  • Physical ability to safely assist passengers with mobility needs, as required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred but not Required Qualifications

  • Prior NEMT, medical transport, or customer service experience.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with Metro Richmond area and medical facilities.

Service Area

This role serves clients throughout the Metro Richmond area, including the City of Richmond and surrounding counties.

Compensation

Compensation is paid biweekly.

Reliable drivers who consistently demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and exceptional customer care may have opportunities for additional routes or priority scheduling, based on operational needs.

Pay: $125.00 - $180.00 per day
