Taconic Innovations is seeking dedicated Independent Contractors to join our team as Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Drivers. We provide essential NEMT services to clients throughout the Hudson Valley region, ensuring they receive reliable, safe, and courteous transportation to their medical appointments and other necessary destinations.
In this vital role, you will be the backbone of our service delivery, directly contributing to the well-being of our clients. You will be responsible for transporting individuals to and from their appointments, providing assistance as needed, and maintaining a high standard of vehicle safety and cleanliness. This independent contractor position offers the flexibility and autonomy to manage your schedule while being part of a service that genuinely helps people.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation to clients.
- Operating vehicles in strict adherence to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Maintaining the cleanliness, fuel level, and safe operating condition of the assigned vehicle.
- Assisting clients with boarding and de-boarding, securing mobility devices, and handling light personal items.
- Upholding the highest standards of client confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Accurately completing all required documentation, including trip logs, incident reports, and pre-shift vehicle inspection forms.
- Conducting thorough pre-shift vehicle inspections, checking tires, lights, brakes, fuel, cleanliness, and emergency equipment.

Essential Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to complete all required Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) training, including safety protocols and client assistance techniques.
- Hold any required certifications pertinent to NEMT services (details to be provided during onboarding).
- Demonstrated ability to operate a vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws and company guidelines.
- Experience or comfort in assisting individuals with varying mobility needs, including securing wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to client confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Ability to accurately complete administrative tasks such as trip logs and inspection forms.
- Must be free from the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other impairing substances while operating a vehicle.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a courteous and compassionate demeanor.
- Proactive approach to reporting any accidents, vehicle damage, or incidents immediately.
- Commitment to maintaining vehicle cleanliness and operational readiness.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in non-emergency medical transportation or a similar client-facing driving role is a plus.
Pay: $24.89 - $40.97 per hour
