Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver – Stretcher & Wheelchair Transport

Care Solutions Transportation is seeking dependable, compassionate, and professional individuals to join our growing team as Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Drivers. This role focuses on transporting stretcher-bound and wheelchair-bound clients to and from medical appointments, therapy sessions, hospital discharges, and other approved destinations across Cook, DuPage, and surrounding counties.

As a driver, your top priority is the safety, dignity, and comfort of our clients—many of whom are elderly, mobility-impaired, or recovering from medical procedures. You will be trained to assist clients with various levels of mobility and provide a caring, respectful transport experience that reflects the core values of Care Solutions Transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

● Safely operate wheelchair-accessible vans and stretcher transport vehicles, ensuring adherence to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
● Load and secure wheelchairs and stretchers using appropriate tie-downs and safety equipment, following company procedures to prevent injury or movement during transport.

● Assist clients in and out of vehicles, including transferring patients from beds, facilities, or homes onto stretchers with care and professionalism.

● Provide door-to-door service, including facility check-ins, room pickups, and clear communication with medical staff and family members when needed.

● Monitor and ensure the comfort and well-being of each client throughout their trip.

● Communicate professionally with clients, family members, dispatchers, and healthcare providers about trip logistics and updates.

● Maintain cleanliness and readiness of vehicle interior and exterior, performing daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections.

● Accurately complete all required trip logs, mileage reports, client notes, and incident documentation.

● Report any incidents or vehicle concerns to the Operations Manager immediately.

● Uphold strict standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and compassion at all times.

Qualifications:

● Valid Illinois driver’s license with a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).

● Previous experience in non-emergency medical transportation, patient care, or professional driving is preferred but not required.

● Current CPR Certification (Required)

● Defensive Driving certification

● PASS Certification (Passenger Assistance, Safety & Sensitivity) or willingness to complete upon hire.

● Knowledge of proper stretcher handling techniques and wheelchair securement procedures (training provided).

● Ability to lift, maneuver, and transport patients on stretchers or in wheelchairs safely and without injury.

● Strong customer service skills with a compassionate, patient, and calm demeanor.

● Ability to follow directions, communicate clearly, and remain composed in changing or high-pressure situations.

● Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and readiness inspections.

● Must pass background check, fingerprinting, drug screening, and health attestation.

● Flexible availability for rotating shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays.

● High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Pay: $19.50 - $20.00 per hour
