New Directions’ Non-Profit Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit financial standards. This role requires strong proficiency in QuickBooks, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with auditors, insurance providers, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage all financial records using QuickBooks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reports in a timely manner
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Support the preparation of the organization’s annual budget
- Coordinate with annual auditors, providing requested documentation and ensuring audit readiness
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation for compliance and reporting purposes
- Work with insurance policies and providers, including tracking coverage, renewals, and related payments
- Manage relationships with vendors, including invoice tracking, payment processing, and resolving discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, grant requirements, and internal controls
- Assist with grant tracking and reporting, as needed
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of [2–3+] years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (required)
- Experience working with auditors, insurance policies, and vendor management
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and nonprofit financial practices

Pay: $19.00 - $28.00 per hour
