About YEP
Youth Empowered to Prosper (YEP) is a community-driven nonprofit dedicated to empowering young people through mentorship, leadership development, and hands-on programming. We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and creative individual to join our team as a Part-Time Program Assistant on an independent contractor basis.
Position summary
As a Program Assistant (1099 Independent Contractor), you will support the day-to-day operations of YEP's programs, engage with youth participants and mentors, assist with events, and help tell our story through social media and creative content. This role is approximately 20 hours per week on average, with flexible scheduling coordinated in advance around program needs.
What you'll do
Program support & youth engagement
- Lead or assist with group sessions at partner schools and virtual workshops
- Recruit and engage youth participants and volunteer mentors
- Support mentor-mentee matching, regular check-ins, and documentation
- Communicate with youth, families, mentors, and community partners via phone, email, text, and in person
- Track attendance, collect program data, and compile feedback
Events & in-person activities
- Plan and coordinate events — scheduling, supplies, venues, and promotion
- Facilitate in-person events, social gatherings, and special youth activities
- Capture high-quality photos and videos at events and upload to shared cloud folders
Communications & social media
- Create and schedule engaging monthly social media content
- Assist in writing newsletters and producing short-form video content
- Collect and share testimonials, photos, and impact stories
Administrative & cross-program support
- Maintain organized digital and physical records, files, and forms
- Develop learning materials such as worksheets, slides, and handouts
- Support YEP programs including Young Women Who Win (YWWW) and the Teen Leadership Program
- Provide general support to the Program Coordinator
What we're looking for
Required skills & experience
- Comfortable and confident speaking in front of students, groups, or audiences
- Proven ability to engage, manage, and build rapport with tweens and teens (ages 10–19)
- Experience with photography and/or videography, including basic editing (e.g. CapCut, Adobe Premiere, iMovie, Lightroom, or similar tools)
- Experience using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Canva AI, or other generative AI platforms) for content creation, productivity, or communications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage your own schedule and deadlines
- Proficient with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.) and scheduling tools
- Comfortable with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Forms)
Preferred qualifications
- Background in education, youth development, social work, or a related field
- Experience with nonprofit programs or community organizations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) is a plus
- Creative mindset with a passion for designing engaging youth activities

- A background screening is required prior to working with youth participants.
- You will maintain confidentiality of all participant, donor, and organizational information.
Pay: $20,000.00 per year
