This position is responsible for interpreting formula worksheets and compounding medication using approved equipment and aseptic processes. Technicians are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the compounding equipment. All duties are performed under the supervision of a Lead Technician and a licensed pharmacist. Responsibilities
- Measures, weighs, counts, and compounds medications
- Mixes pharmaceutical preparations according to formulation logs
- Establishes and maintains accurate patient records by entering correct lot numbers and expiration dates of compounded medications
- Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs
- Preparation and compounding of sterile products
- Maintaining the pharmacy clean room suite to USP 797 and USP 800 requirements
- Experience with following aseptic techniques in BSC and LAFW
- Capable of successfully completing Hand Hygiene and Garbing qualification
- Experience using a repeater pump
- Inventory management and storage, complete appropriate documentation, such as labels, log sheets and reports
- Clean equipment and sterilize glassware using dry heat ovens or autoclaves
- Performs to established efficiency metrics while adhering to quality standards
- Maintains compliance with Company and HIPAA patient confidentiality requirements
Qualifications
- Must be able to read, understand SOPs and all guidelines as they relate to the process
- Registration with Arizona DOH as a licensed technician is required upon hire
- Compounding and/or laboratory experience preferred
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good manual dexterity
- An awareness of health and safety regulations
- Ability to work as a part of a team in a fast-pace environment
- Must be able to work in a variety of positions locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reach, and walking, for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to use necessary equipment such as computers, scanners, or other technology devices as assigned
- Potential exposure to chemicals used in preparation of compounds (some chemicals are classified as toxic and special safety precautions must be taken when working with these chemicals)
- Must be able to wear required compounding safety equipment for long periods of time when required
