Nonprofit Afterschool Program & Community Engagement Coordinator

About Code 4 Hood
Code 4 Hood is a Sacramento-based nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to STEAM education, workforce pathways, and wraparound youth development programs. Through afterschool safe spaces, workforce accelerators, leadership programs, and community pop-ups, we serve youth ages 10–24 across Sacramento.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, community-centered professional to serve as our Nonprofit Afterschool Program & Community Engagement Coordinator.
This hybrid role combines:
- Afterschool site leadership
- Youth program coordination
- Volunteer development
- Employer & industry partnership building
- Community outreach & sponsorship engagement
This person will serve as the on-site Afterschool Safe Space Lead (2:00 PM – 7:00 PM) while also building the external relationships that sustain Code 4 Hood’s programs and events.
Core Areas of Responsibility
Afterschool Program & Site Leadership
- Open and close the studio space (Monday–Thursday)
- Serve as primary on-site point of contact for customers and visitors walking in or stopping by
- Support instructors during classes
- Maintain a structured, welcoming, and safe environment
- Support drop-in tutoring and youth assistance
- Ensure snacks, supplies, and materials are prepared
- Maintain attendance logs and daily oversight
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Check equipment in and out with instructors
- Track robotics kits, laptops, specialty tools, and supplies
- Maintain equipment inventory logs
- Ensure proper storage and accountability
- Receive deliveries and manage supply restocking
- Develop simple systems for inventory and asset tracking
Volunteer Development & Coordination
- Build and maintain Code 4 Hood’s volunteer pool
- Develop relationships with:
- Corporate employee volunteer programs
- Universities and student volunteers
- Community members
- Coordinate volunteer placement for:
- Hack the Farm
- Hack the Classroom
- Community Pop-Ups
- Youth workshops & events
- Oversee volunteer onboarding and engagement tracking
Community & Industry Partnership Development
- Build partnerships with employers for:
- Internships
- Job placement
- Workforce programs
- Develop relationships with community-based organizations (CBOs)
- Strengthen Code 4 Hood’s wraparound referral ecosystem for youth
- Mental health referrals
- Workforce development
- Academic support services
- Assist with sponsorship outreach and contact list building
- Support development of sponsorship decks and partnership materials
- Represent Code 4 Hood at:
- Community events
- Resource fairs
- Nonprofit collaborations
- School engagement opportunities
Outreach, Visibility & Event Support
- Conduct neighborhood and school-based outreach
- Distribute flyers and engage families
- Support marketing and registration follow-ups
- Help coordinate logistics for monthly Pop-Ups
- Increase Code 4 Hood’s visibility across Sacramento
Administrative & Reporting Support
- Support youth registration tracking
- Print and scan documents for grants and reporting
- Track receipts and documentation for:
- SCF
- Futures YES
- Pop-Ups
- Charter school reporting
- Maintain referral tracking database
- Assist with light sponsorship and grant support research
- Manage basic CRM and contact tracking systems
Required Skills & Tools
- Proficiency in Google Workspace
- Experience with Asana, Zoom, and Canva
- Comfortable using CRM or database systems (Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, or similar a plus)
- Strong communication and networking skills
- Comfortable making outreach calls and sending partnership emails
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Event coordination experience
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in:
- Community outreach
- Partnership development
- Workforce development
- Youth programming
- Experience working with nonprofits or youth-serving organizations preferred
- Experience coordinating volunteers strongly preferred
- Must pass background check (Live Scan)

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
Work Location: In person
