Job title: Staff Engineer 2


Duties: Provide technical support and safety oversight for synchrotron radiation beam lines and experimental equipment; design, prototype and commission opto-electo-mechanical systems and components; identify needs and provide solutions for process improvements; create technical documents and formal reports.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field. 2 years of experience in applying scientific and engineering principles and practices to perform technical services and support on/for scientific instrumentation and industrial control systems, including some solid experience in each of the following: prototype design and development of complex articulated mechanical assemblies and systems using SolidWorks or SolidEdge; evaluating and troubleshooting sophisticated electro-mechanical, power delivery systems; magnetic field computer modeling and simulation; conducting failure and root cause analysis; structural and metal frame design; creating technical documentation and failure reports; AutoCAD; conducting statistical analysis using MATLAB and JMP; Python. Expertise in 3D printer usage, troubleshooting and maintenance. Advanced skills in: load analysis, welding fastening and joining; assembling, maintaining and operating industrial computer numeric controlled (CNC) metal cutting machinery.

Salary: $146,450 to $164,965 per year
