NP or PA - Scott Orthopedic Center

Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions as a member of the orthopaedic care team within the Scott Orthopedic Center, providing comprehensive patient care in both clinic and surgical settings. The APP collaborates with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary staff to deliver high-quality care across the continuum, including evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic patients.

This position supports a multi-subspecialty orthopaedic practice through a rotational model, offering broad exposure across sports medicine, joint replacement, hand, trauma, and foot and ankle while supporting patient access and operational needs.
Job Responsibilities
  • Obtains complete musculoskeletal-focused medical history and performs physical examinations on patients
  • Interprets diagnostic studies, including orthopaedic imaging (e.g., X-ray), to determine appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with physicians
  • Performs comprehensive physical assessments and records findings; collaborates with orthopaedic physicians in managing acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions
  • Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures as indicated
  • Administers medications and performs in-office procedures, including joint injections, under physician direction; sutures minor lacerations as needed
  • Interviews and advises patients regarding orthopaedic conditions, treatment plans, and recovery expectations
  • Instructs patients and families regarding medications, post-operative care, and treatment instructions; provides patient education
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information; posts test and examination results
  • Triages patient calls and provides clinical consultation
  • Manages pre-operative and post-operative patient care
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
  • Serves as surgical first assist for orthopaedic procedures as assigned
  • Participates in a rotational coverage model across all orthopaedic subspecialties within the Scott Orthopedic Center to support patient access and clinic efficiency
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
  • Performs related work as required
Education
Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Experience
One year of related clinical experience preferred; orthopaedic or surgical experience preferred but not required
License/Registration
Valid state license required. CPR certification required
