Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Clinical Coordinator
Position Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Clinical Coordinator supports the externship administration, and continuous improvement of the Nuclear Medicine Technology program. The Coordinator plays a key role in supporting day-to-day clinical externship operations as well as on campus lab operations.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Externship Administration & Coordination
- Coordinate on-campus lab schedules (Hot Lab), student’s externship rotations, and establish clinical sites visits for students and clinical sites evaluations.
- Monitor externship student attendance, their clinical documentation, and competency skills tracking
- Assist with supply inventory, and on-campus lab equipment maintenance
Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance
- Assist the Program director with externship compliance and applicable state and federal regulations
- Assist the Program Director with externship reports, site visits, and documentation preparation
Clinical Coordination
- Serve as liaison between the program and clinical affiliates
- Coordinate and supervise student clinical placements, rotations, schedules, and evaluations
- Ensure clinical sites meet program standards and maintain active affiliation agreements
- Monitor student clinical hours, competencies, and graduation requirements
- Ensure RT students meet all requirements for clinical rotations and provide remedial support when necessary.
- Coordinate distribution and tracking of dosimetry badges, ring badges, and quarterly radiation reports.
- Supervise students at clinical sites, ensuring compliance with ARRT competencies and state regulations.
- Collaborate with Career Services department to align clinical rotations with ARRT skill requirements.
- Identify and secure new clinical externship sites; maintain organized clinical sites databases.
- Conduct site visits and maintain strong relationships with clinical partners (local travel required; mileage/gas/parking reimbursed).
- Communicate regularly with clinical preceptors regarding student performance and concerns.
- Utilize clinical competency tracking systems to monitor student progress.
- Support public relations efforts to promote the college and expand clinical partnerships.
Student Support & Advising
- Provide guidance to students on program requirements, academic progress, and clinical expectations
- Track student attendance, performance, and progression
- Address externship students concerns and escalate issues as appropriate
Career Service Department Support
- Assist on the Career Services externship orientations for students starting their externship portion of the program.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in Nuclear Medicine
- Prior experience in education, program coordination, or clinical instruction preferred
Certifications
- Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Active state licensure if required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures, safety standards, and imaging technology
- Familiarity with accreditation standards and clinical education requirements
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced academic environment
- Proficiency with student information systems and Microsoft Office
Work Environment
- Combination of office, classroom, lab, and clinical sites settings
- This position requires travel to clinical sites
- Standard work hours with flexibility based on program needs
