Job Description:
Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a Nuclear Program Manager to support our Nuclear Power Generation clientele in the Greater St. Louis, MO Region. This position can be based remotely but will require 50% on-site work at the customer’s plant (St. Louis, MO.) The position requires well-rounded project management expertise in the nuclear power industry, as well as experience managing a team of project managers and support staff at the same site. Orbital is evaluating candidates based upon their project and team management experience, technical knowledge, field experience, and engineering design skill sets.
Essential Functions
- Lead and direct a team of contract Project Managers, Engineers, and support staff for Orbital.
- Serve as main point of contact with the client for Orbital’s Nuclear Program and all its resources.
- Participate in the development of new and expansion of existing Nuclear business opportunities.
- Hire staff, establish individual goals and expectations, and conduct performance reviews.
- Prepare, or supervise the preparation of, all Nuclear proposals for Orbital including development of scopes of work, project schedules, and cost estimates.
- Direct, develop, supervise, and provide technical guidance to all direct reports to ensure adherence to all client standards, policies, and procedures.
- Support the organization through interaction with other managers at Orbital, including recruiting and training efforts.
- Ensure all applicable department operational and project activities are completed in accordance with Orbital’s Quality Management system through implementation and enforcement of published QMS policies and practices.
- Function as seconded Project Manager on multiple concurrent projects at nuclear power plant.
- Schedule, organize and direct Orbital staff (as required) in the completion of their activities.
- Prepare, or supervise the preparation of overall project schedules and TIC estimates.
- Regularly utilize client-proprietary software packages to complete daily project responsibilities.
- Supervise, manage, and direct client/contract engineering resources to complete modification packages.
- Act as main point of contact for designated client projects and provide regular project updates.
- Complete all tasks in accordance with project execution procedures and guidelines as set forth in corporate Project Management System and client's standards.
- Responsible for managing contracts for procurement, services, and evaluating change orders and scope deviation.
- Manage and direct the installation through coordination with station stakeholders.
- Frequently communicate with client on projects to best determine the most cost-effective solutions.
- Provides timely and detailed documentation to ensure projects are on budget and schedule, for the entire Orbital Nuclear program.
- Work is mostly located at the client site, with occasional field-based activities depending on project needs, plant outages, etc.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of 15 years of demonstrable project management experience within Nuclear electric power generation is required.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Project Management Training, PMP Certification, and/or PE licensure are a plus.
- Successful experience in leadership roles managing PM and engineering resources in a consulting or on-site environment is preferred.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Project management experience including understanding and use of project management and project control principles and tools is required.
- Candidates should have a thorough understanding and aptitude in the use of current computer software including general office products, design, and business enterprise software.
- This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.
Location Note:
This is an on-site or hybrid position, but with minimum 50% on-site time required. Compensation is based on market data and internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s location.
Salary Range:
$160,000-220,000 annually (based on experience, qualifications, and location)
