Nurse Contractor for Disability Services, Medication Aide Training, and Medical Oversight

Job Summary

I Belong, Inc. is seeking a Nurse Contractor to provide Medication Aide training, medical oversight, and related compliance support for our small nonprofit disability services agency. This contract role supports staff who provide person-centered services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Ideally, we are seeking someone with experience working for a provider that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and with training DSPs to become Medication Aides.

The initial primary focus of this role will be providing basic Medication Aide training and recertification for DSPs in Nebraska disability services provider settings, rather than the 40-hour Medication Aide course used in nursing facilities, assisted living, or ICF/DD settings. We are seeking a nurse familiar with Medication Aide training and oversight needs for DSPs working in these settings. Ongoing responsibilities will also include medical oversight related to medications, medication incidents, medical protocols, specialized staff training, and other health-related compliance needs within the agency. This is a contract position with work on an as-needed basis, generally averaging 2 to 5 hours per month, though hours may vary.

Duties

  • Provide Medication Aide training and recertification for DSPs in accordance with Nebraska requirements applicable to provider-agency settings.
  • Provide oversight and consultation related to medication administration practices and documentation.
  • Review medication-related incidents and provide guidance regarding follow-up, documentation, and staff support.
  • Assist with the development, review, and staff training of participant-specific medical protocols and specialized health-related procedures.
  • Provide health-related guidance to agency leadership and staff as needed.
  • Support compliance related to medication administration, staff training, medical oversight, and health-related documentation.
  • Serve as a resource regarding participant health and safety concerns within the scope of the contractor role.

Requirements

  • Current RN license preferred. Experienced LPNs will also be considered.
  • Experience in I/DD services, disability services, or related provider settings preferred.
  • Experience providing Medication Aide training for DSPs strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Nebraska Medication Aide requirements and medication oversight in community-based provider settings preferred.
  • Experience with medication oversight, incident review, and health-related staff training preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical protocols, specialized staff training, and related compliance expectations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a small agency team.
