Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Manager to help lead our nursing department while continuing to provide hands-on, direct care, becoming an essential part of an organization deeply committed to improving the lives of children and their families. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend clinical practice with leadership, including scheduling, orienting, evaluating, and selecting nursing staff, as well as actively participating in Performance Improvement and Infection Control initiatives.

As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, the Nurse Manager plays an essential role in fostering an optimal treatment environment for residents and supporting collaboration across nursing, residential, clinical, and educational teams. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, relevant industry experience, preferably working with youth, and a commitment to advancing the organization’s philosophy, goals, and standards of care.

Schedule: Full-time [Rotating day and evening shifts, weekends, and every other holiday]

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a state-accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed to practice as an RN in the state of Virginia
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience working as a general duty nurse and a minimum of one year experience as a charge nurse/supervisor.
  • Experience in a child/adolescent psychiatric setting is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Infection Control, Principles of Quality Improvement, and regulatory agency guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Assist DON in nursing policy formulation, revision and decision making.
  • Provide guidance for and supervision of nursing personnel by assessing skills/knowledge/processes/resources for the purpose of ensuring optimal nursing services at all times
  • Function as a member of the team, providing an optimal treatment environment for residents
  • Participate in recruiting/interviewing and selecting of nursing personnel
  • Assist in providing continuing education activities to promote a climate of ongoing professional growth and learning
  • Assume DON duties and responsibilities during DON's absences or as directed by the Medical Director
