Compensation

  • Salary Range:
    • Minimum: $44.27/hour
    • Midpoint: $53.12/hour
    • Maximum: $61.99/hour
      (Compensation heavily based on years of experience. Candidates near the maximum range typically have 15–20 years of leadership experience at Manager/Director level.)
  • Sign-On Bonus: $25,000 (2-year commitment required)
  • Relocation Assistance: Case-by-case basis
  • Recruitment Fee: 20%

Position Overview

A hospital in the Kansas City metro area is seeking a dynamic Nurse Manager – Emergency Department to lead a high-volume, high-acuity ED.

Under the direction of the ED Director and Chief Nursing Officer, the Manager provides nursing leadership and oversees the daily operations, staffing, quality outcomes, and patient experience within the Emergency Department.

This leader will manage a fast-paced department serving approximately 100 patients per day and overseeing a team of 90 FTEs.

Facility Overview

This regional medical center is recognized for advanced emergency and specialty services, including Level II Trauma designation, accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Centers, Pediatric Emergency Services, Women’s & Children’s programs, and multiple freestanding emergency locations. The hospital is part of a nationally recognized healthcare system serving the Kansas City region.

Department Details

  • Trauma Level: II
  • ED Beds: 24 Main ED beds + 12 hallway beds
  • Daily Volume: ~100 patients
  • Direct Reports: Approximately 90 FTEs
  • Departments Overseen: Emergency Department only

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership for the Emergency Department.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered emergency care.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Monitor and evaluate nursing care in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Hold staff accountable for clinical outcomes and quality metrics.
  • Support patient satisfaction and service excellence initiatives.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to meet strategic and operational goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of recent (within the last year) acute care leadership experience in the Emergency Department.
    • Charge Nurse experience in a high-acuity ED will be considered.
    • Manager-level experience strongly preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • BSN preferred or actively pursuing with completion within 2 years of hire.
  • Current RN licensure in state of practice (or active compact license).

Required within 90 days of hire:

  • ACLS
  • TNCC
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
  • ENPC or PALS
