Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Director of Progressive Care, the Nurse Manager shares 24-hour accountability and additional responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of the department. Functions will be performed in accordance with the nurse practitioner in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

Quality

• Functions effectively as an interdisciplinary team member.
• Accepts responsibility for assurance that quality patient care is provided consistently according to hospital and departmental standards and policies/procedures.
• Accepts accountability and responsibility for achievement of operational and capital budgets goals.
• Shares 24-hour accountability and responsibility with the Director of PCU for the effective and efficient operation of the unit.
• Performs hourly rounding and responds promptly to call lights and patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Follows patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures.

• Demonstrates caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions.

What qualifications you will need:

Education\Experience\Licensure\Certifications:

• Graduate of an accredited professional school of Nursing with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• 3 years’ experience in a progressive care unit required.
• Current RN licensure by the State of Texas or from a Compact State if you declare the Compact State your Primary State of Residence required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
• National Certification in area of expertise preferred.
