Nurse practitioner

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our inpatient endocrinology team.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive clinical background, demonstrating expertise across various medical disciplines, including primary care, urgent care, and specialized fields such as gastroenterology, geriatrics, and behavioral health. This role offers an opportunity to deliver exceptional patient-centered care in diverse settings, utilizing advanced clinical skills and a thorough understanding of medical documentation and electronic health record systems. The Nurse Practitioner will play a vital role in promoting health, managing acute and chronic conditions, and supporting patient education initiatives within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital signs measurement, and detailed medical histories to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Provide evidence-based clinical care across multiple specialties such as acute pain management, infectious disease care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and behavioral health.
  • Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to best practices for sterile technique and patient safety protocols.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures including sonography, venipuncture, catheterization, spinal taps, and basic life support interventions.
  • Manage complex cases involving hospital medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric ICU), trauma centers, and emergency room scenarios with proficiency in airway management and ventilator support.
  • Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner for precise documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and medical records compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and telehealth services to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Engage in clinical research initiatives when applicable to advance evidence-based practices within the organization.
  • Support specialized procedures such as dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments for appropriate patient populations seeking cosmetic care.

Experience

  • Proven clinical experience in diverse healthcare settings including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing patients with complex needs such as dialysis patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care requirements.
  • Experience working within Epic or Athenahealth EMR/EHR systems; familiarity with CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 coding standards for accurate billing and documentation.
  • Background in acute care environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers; ICU experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of occupational health protocols including Workers' Compensation law and post-acute care procedures is advantageous.
  • Skilled in performing procedures like suturing, tube feeding management, phlebotomy, sterile processing techniques, and infection control practices.
  • Prior involvement in clinical research or teaching hospital settings that emphasize evidence-based practice standards aligned with NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) standards is preferred. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $124,442.82 - $149,866.63 per year
