Position Summary:
The Outpatient Cardiology Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive cardiovascular care to adult patients in both a
clinic and hospital setting under the supervision of collaborating cardiologists. The NP is responsible for evaluating,
diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic cardiac conditions while promoting continuity of care, patient education
and preventative cardiovascular health.
This role supports physicians within a busy outpatient cardiology practice including hospital coverage in collaboration
with nursing staff, medical assistants, hospital teams, and ancillary departments to ensure high-quality patients
outcomes.
Working Conditions:
· Moderate physical effort required, frequent lifting of patients, medical equipment, and supplies

· Frequent walking throughout clinic & hospital location(s)
· Frequent sitting and standing for long periods of time
· Frequent hearing/talking
· Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling
· Occasionally exposed to loud noise
Qualifications:
· Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
· Current Tennessee Nurse Practitioner license or eligibility to obtain
· Board Certification as:
o Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or
o Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
· Current DEA license
· BLS and ACLS certification required
· Minimum 2–3 years of cardiology or cardiovascular nursing/NP experience preferred
· Knowledge of infection control protocols and practices.
· Experience utilizing electronic medical record: Required - eClincialWorks (eCW) experience: Preferred
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Required
· Able to work in a fast-paced medical practice while maintaining a high level of professionalism
· Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients, and referral sources
· Detail oriented, thorough, and exact.
Specific Duties:
· Strong knowledge of cardiovascular disease management
· Experience with outpatient cardiology workflows
· Experience with hospital cardiology workflows
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
managing hospital consults, rounding and inpatient cardiac care
· Excellent communication and patient education skills
· Familiarity with EMR systems and cardiology documentation requirements
Schedule & Work Environment
· Full-time hospital-based clinician collaborating with supervising cardiologist
· Call and weekend coverage depending on practice needs
· Fast-paced cardiovascular clinical environment supporting cardiologists and APPs
