Duties
- Conduct patient histories and focused physical exams
- Diagnose and manage acute illnesses (URIs, UTIs, minor injuries)
- Manage chronic conditions (diabetes, HTN, COPD, asthma, hyperlipidemia)
- Order, interpret, and act on labs and imaging (EKG, x‑ray, basic labs)
- Prescribe and adjust medications; manage refills and polypharmacy
- Provide preventive care: immunizations, screening, wellness visits
- Perform office procedures: suturing, wound care, I&D, joint injections, ear procedures
- Develop and document treatment plans and follow-up instructions
- Provide patient education and counseling, including lifestyle and medication adherence
- Coordinate referrals and consults with specialists; follow up on results
- Triage phone calls, manage urgent same‑day visits, and decide disposition
- Maintain accurate EHR documentation, e‑prescribing, and coding for billing
- Participate in quality improvement, population health outreach, and panel management
- Supervise and collaborate with nursing and medical assistants; precept trainees when applicable
- Ensure compliance with legal/regulatory requirements and scope-of-practice limits
