Nurse Practitioner – Pain Management / Skilled Nursing Facility Visits

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner specializing in Pain Management to provide comprehensive care within skilled nursing facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, excellent assessment skills, and a passion for improving patient outcomes through effective pain management strategies. This role involves delivering high-quality patient care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. The Nurse Practitioner will play a vital role in managing acute and chronic pain conditions, conducting detailed evaluations, and implementing personalized treatment plans to enhance patient comfort and functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical histories, and physical examinations to evaluate pain levels and overall health status.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized pain management plans utilizing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions such as Botulinum toxin treatments and other advanced therapies.
  • Perform procedures including suturing, IV infusions, catheterizations, and sterile technique applications in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care plans tailored to patients' needs in skilled nursing environments.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding pain management options, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Engage in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing pain management practices within the facility.
  • Participate in triage activities to prioritize urgent cases effectively and manage acute care needs promptly.

Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in settings such as skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, or outpatient clinics with a focus on pain management or related specialties like geriatrics or palliative medicine.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for medical documentation and case management.
  • Hands-on experience performing procedures such as suturing, IV insertion, catheterization, spinal taps, or dermal fillers is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes related to pain management procedures and ICD coding for accurate diagnosis documentation.
  • Critical care experience from ICU or Level I/II trauma centers enhances the ability to manage complex cases involving acute pain or trauma-related conditions.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms for remote patient consultations is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices, medication administration protocols including injectable therapies like Botox or esthetic laser treatments when applicable. Pay: $93,816.53 - $112,983.35 per year
