You will play a crucial part in supporting veterans by providing thorough, accurate, and timely evaluations that inform their benefits claims. There is no treatment plans or prescribing involved in this role. It involves reviewing medical records and completing structured medical evaluations for veterans applying for disability benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed medical evaluations of veterans to assess service-connected disabilities
  • Review medical records, prior documentation, and relevant history to inform accurate disability ratings
  • Complete comprehensive reports and documentation in accordance with VA guidelines and standards
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure consistency and quality of evaluations
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations throughout all processes
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and data management
  • Stay current with updates in disability evaluation criteria, including ICD-10 coding and CPT coding procedures

Requirements

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Medical Physician license with current certification in Virginia.
  • Experience in clinical assessment, ideally with exposure to veteran populations or disability evaluations
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems is highly preferred
  • Excellent patient assessment skills with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a military/veteran healthcare setting is a plus
