Nurse Practitioner - PMHNP (Credentialed through AHCCCS)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and risk assessments to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and manage medications such as psychotropics, including botulinum toxin treatments for specific conditions, ensuring safe and effective use.
  • Provide psychotherapy modalities tailored to patient needs, incorporating behavioral health strategies and crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, social workers, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and community resources.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing psychiatric care standards.
  • Perform procedures such as suturing or spinal taps when required within your scope of practice and training.
  • Engage in telehealth consultations to extend mental health services remotely while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of ICD-10 coding standards for accurate billing and documentation purposes.

Experience

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license with certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in assisted living or nursing home settings.
  • Prior clinical experience in acute care environments such as hospitals (Level I/II trauma centers), emergency rooms, ICU units, or behavioral health facilities.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and patient management.
  • Hands-on experience with medication management including psychotropics and botulinum toxin treatments; familiarity with CPT coding is preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices including trauma center protocols and hospice & palliative medicine principles.
  • Skills in conducting physical examinations, vital signs assessment, medication administration via injections or IV infusion, and diagnostic evaluations such as sonography or laboratory specimen processing.
  • Experience working within Workers’ Compensation law or occupational health programs is advantageous.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
