Hourly Rate: $75.00 - $80.00

Main Function

  • To provide medical care of the patient while at Seafield Center and to ensure all newly admitted patients are medically stable for admission and participation in our programs.
  • Use information systems access as assigned, when applicable.
  • This position is classified as “Essential” for emergency closure purposes.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs physical examination and mental status evaluation of each patient admitted.
  • Upon admission, or within 24 hours of admission, provides an admitting or tentative diagnosis that becomes part of the client’s record.
  • Writes initial orders for care of each patient upon admission.
  • Perform reexamination and treatment of each patient pertinent to physical and mental complaints, ranging from supportive reassurance to specific treatment of existing physical illness.
  • Consults with outside physicians or dentists as needed.
  • Adjusts medications daily when indicated.
  • Meets with patients prior to discharge to review medical status and to make appropriate referrals.
  • Consults with family as to care, management and health of the patient when indicated.
  • Ensures that the patient is informed of his/her rights either by direct information or through a designee.
  • Ensures all consents are signed for medical treatment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education And Qualifications

At least one year substance use disorders treatment experience. A physician, either M.D. or D.O, or PA or NP who is licensed to practice in the state of New York. A.S.A.M. membership encouraged but not required.
