Nurse Practitioner Residency Program at Hudson Valley HCS VA - Applications being accepted now!

Our 12-month CCNE accredited Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Residency program provides clinical and academic experiences for new graduate nurse practitioners

transitioning into the work field.

The primary office location is in our Community Based Out-Patient Clinic (CBOC) in Poughkeepsie New York with rotations to specialty clinics at our Castle Point

Campus in Wappingers and Montrose Campus. The Nurse Practitioner Resident will focus on assessment, diagnostics and treatment of complex clinical cases using

evidence-based practice. Residents will be matched with clinical and academic experts in a protected learning environment with opportunities for leadership development.

Upon successful completion of the residency, a certificate of completion is awarded.

Eligibility:

  • Graduate of Master’s or Doctoral Nurse Practitioner (NP) program accredited by CCNE or ACEN
  • National board certification as a Family or Adult NP from a VA-approved certifying body by the time of program start date
  • Current unrestricted RN and NP license
  • US Citizen and proficient in written and spoken English
  • Required background/security investigation, pre-employment medical exam, random drug test

Dates to Remember

  • Application Due– April 17, 2026
  • Program Starts– September 1, 2026

Note: Nurse residents are considered trainees and there is no commitment

for continued employment after completing the year-long

program. Participation in the residency does not guarantee employment

with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

  • 3 Letters of recommendation: 1 from school and 1 from previous or current employer, 3rd letterfrom either school or employment. Official letter head.
