Nurse Practitioner - Women's Health/Family and Psychiatry

Nurse Practitioner (WHNP/FNP and PMHNP)

Perimenopause & Menopause Care (PMC) Program

About Waypoint

Waypoint Counseling & Maternal Wellness is a behavioral health practice serving clients across North Carolina from our Durham and Raleigh offices, with both in-person and telehealth options. Our team of over 35 providers delivers counseling, psychiatric, and integrated wellness services with a focus on women’s health from prenatal through perimenopause and menopause.

The Role

This is a full-time, production-based provider position serving Waypoint’s Perimenopause & Menopause Care (PMC) program. You will carry your own caseload and deliver integrated care that combines hormone therapy with management of mood, sleep, and anxiety symptoms common to the menopause transition. Waypoint will credential you with our contracted payers and provide the infrastructure (EHR, scheduling, billing support, malpractice coverage, and an established referral pipeline) so you can focus on clinical work.

Your clinical focus will center on women navigating perimenopause and menopause:

  • Comprehensive perimenopause and menopause evaluations, including lab and hormone evaluations when indicated
  • Hormone therapy (HT) management, including initiation, titration, and ongoing monitoring
  • Additional pharmacological management of mood and sleep symptoms when indicated
  • Lifestyle, nutrition, and behavioral health counseling within an integrated care model
  • Coordination with Waypoint’s counselors, nutritionists/dietitians, and psychiatric providers for clients whose needs extend beyond the PMC scope

This is not a primary psychiatric care role. Clients with complex psychiatric conditions (bipolar disorder, severe depression, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders) will be referred internally to Waypoint’s psychiatric team. Likewise, this is not a full-spectrum GYN role; contraceptive management beyond menopause-related needs, and gynecologic procedures are outside the scope of this position.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain a full-time caseload of at least 18 clinical hours per week, with a mix of in-office and telehealth delivery
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations that may include clinical assessment, lab work, and hormone testing, then build personalized treatment plans
  • Prescribe and manage hormone replacement therapy and related medications, with ongoing monitoring and titration
  • Collaborate with Waypoint’s counselors, dietitians, and psychiatric providers on shared clients, with clear referral pathways for needs outside PMC scope
  • Document sessions in SimplePractice (our EHR) within required timeframes
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and individual supervision/consultation
  • Maintain compliance with NC controlled substance reporting requirements

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) through AANP or ANCC. Dual-certification as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) highly desired.
  • Active North Carolina RN and APRN licensure (or eligibility), with an established or pending collaborative practice agreement
  • Active DEA registration and clinical experience prescribing within women’s health, primary care, or related practice settings
  • Comfortable with hybrid service delivery, including both in-office and telehealth visits
  • Able to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team

Preferred:

  • NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner (NCMP) credential, or willingness to obtain within the first year of employment
  • Direct experience prescribing and managing hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
  • Familiarity with SimplePractice or similar EHR platforms
  • Existing referral relationships with OB/GYN offices, primary care practices, or women’s health providers in the Triangle region
  • Experience working in an integrated behavioral health or collaborative care setting

Compensation & Benefits

  • Production-based compensation: per-session rates by CPT code (diagnostic evaluation, established visit, and med management codes),
  • Waypoint handles credentialing, billing, collections, and administrative support
  • Access to SimplePractice (EHR), virtual phone system, scheduling infrastructure, and marketing support
  • Referral pipeline from internal cross-referrals (counselors, NPs) and external referral network
  • PTO accrual based on session volume and tenure
  • Paid holidays (7 fixed + 1 floating per year)
  • Professional development support, technology stipend, and collaborative team culture
  • Medical, Dental, and Optical insurance plans available
