Job Summary
Incumbent will be responsible for providing vascular surgery services in an outpatient and inpatient setting; including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating and educating patients.
Responsibilities
- Performs history and physical examinations on patients. In consultation with the patient's attending physician, establishes a presumptive diagnosis and initiates the work up of the patient by ordering appropriate laboratory studies. Under supervision, is responsbile for the management of the patient's medical issues following diagnosis.
- Assessing presenting illness, risk factors, and family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors/ and performing appropriate physical examination.
- Assist with ordering appropriate laboratory diagnostic and perform other screening tests.
- Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians, for evaluation of illness.
- Assists in hospital rounds. Makes complete chart entries on patient transactions and records progress notes.
- May serve as 1st or 2nd assistant in assigned area. Scrubs, starts IVs, monitors equipment and alerts surgeon of changes in patient's condition, and may close skin after operation. Acts as liaison between surgeon and surgical staff throughout the operation.
- Attends to the patient in the Recovery Room or Intensive Care Unit. May provide postoperative instructions to patients.
- Attends daily rounds and provides post-operative care on floor by checking for signs of post-operative complications, changing dressings, and removing sutures.
- Performs minor surgery under direct supervision. Performs clinical procedures under the direction and supervision of the responsible physician such as venipuncture, arteriopuncture and electrocardiogram. May administer intravenous medications, fluids, blood and blood components, and local infiltrative anesthetic. May administer infections I.M., subcutaneous and intradermal. may perform intradermal skin tests, nastrogastric intubation and insertion of urinary catheters. May cleanse and debride wounds.
- Integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risks.
- Develop and implement treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing medication and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws.
- Providing guidance to patient/family regarding medications and treatments.
- Educates patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention.
- Initiates appropriate therapy in medical emergencies until the arrival of the physician.
- Provides follow-up and health maintenance care including appropriate adjustments of medications to patients in accordance with established protocols or specific instructions from the responsible physician. Orders oral and parental medications for patients under the care of the supervising physician.
- Communicates with patients and families regarding their medical issues following consultation with responsible physician. Provides counseling and instruction regarding patients medical issues.
- Collaborates with other caregivers to ensure continuity of care of patients, and to attain the greatest efficacy in the use of hospital resources in managing patients.
- Provides recommendations ot appropriate community resources to meet patient/family needs.
- Communicates appropriate case management information to other professionals and needs.
- Prepares documentation for medical records including updating patient medical chart by posting examination and test results, diagnosis, medications, and treatment in written/computerized manner.
- Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education. Also provide quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Acts as consultant/collaborator to clinical team. Will also compile with patient confidentiality requirements. Promotes patient advocacy.
- Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patient.
- Assist with monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plan including triaging patient calls/e-mails.
- Assists the physician as directed in the training of health personnel in diagnostic, therapeutic and clinic techniques. Participates in appropriate continuing education programs.
- May perform research activities including assisting at laboratory surgery, collecting and reporting of data. Retrieves and reviews charts and analyzes data for research projects.
- Assist with hospital consultations as needed.
- Prepares and dictates patient summaries of hospitalization.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
