Position Summary

The Nurse – Sports Clinic provides medical and clinical support for athletes, ensuring quality care, emergency response, and efficient coordination within the sports medicine framework at the Inspire Institute of Sport.


Key Responsibilities


- Chaperone athletes for surgeries and specialist medical consultations, providing support and ensuring athlete welfare throughout the process.

- Serve as the first point of contact for night-time medical emergencies in the hostel, including assessment and initial management.

- Perform phlebotomy procedures, administer injections, IV medications, and insert cannulas as indicated.

- Operate computers for updating the Athlete Management System (AMS) and handle timely uploading and organization of medical documentation.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, coordinate with Sanjeevani Hospital for referrals, follow-ups, and case documentation.

- Provide ring, mat, pool or track-side coverage, deliver on-field first aid, and support the safe transfer of injured athletes as needed.

- Demonstrate and maintain competency in Basic Life Support (BLS).

- Apply basic knowledge of pharmacology in medication administration and athlete education.

- Uphold clinic cleanliness standards, including sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.

- Practice basic coordination with the physiotherapy, sports medicine, and relevant interdisciplinary teams for holistic athlete care.


Essential Qualifications and Skills


- Diploma (GNM)/B.Sc. in Nursing from a recognized institution; valid nursing license.

- Phlebotomy proficiency and experience with injections, IVs, and cannula placement.

- BLS certification.

- Proficiency in basic computer operations and experience with electronic medical records or athlete management systems.

- Strong organizational skills for record keeping and documentation.

- Ability to remain calm, decisive, and professional in emergency situations.

- Effective communication skills in English and at least one local language.

- High standards of cleanliness and infection control procedures.


Desirable Skills


- Experience in a sports medicine or athletic healthcare setting.

- Familiarity with basic pharmacology relevant to athlete care and anti-doping principles.

- Prior mat, ring, or field-side/first aid or event medical coverage exposure.

- Previous collaboration with doctors, physiotherapists, and multi-disciplinary teams.

- Basic knowledge of sports injury prevention and management concepts.


Other Information


- The role is on-call for night-time emergencies.

- Willingness to accompany athletes for off-site medical procedures as needed.

- Flexibility to support events, sometimes outside standard clinic hours.
