Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Nurse Unit Manager to join the Virtual Observation Ward (VOW).

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role:
The Virtual Observation Ward (VOW) is an extension of the Virtual Emergency Department where patients can be admitted in the virtual environment within the VOW unit for multiday virtual admissions.

This Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operational, professional and clinical service management of the Virtual Observation Ward, and ensuring safe and timely care. This role will initially develop and operationalise nursing models of care into VOW, as well as, perform higher project related work. The VOW NUM will grow the nursing team to greater support VOW patients over a period of time.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • A minimum of 4 years post-graduate experience, preferably in an ANUM level or above
  • Prior leadership, operational management or project management experience
  • Previous experience in virtual care (Desired)
  • Previous experience in paediatric nursing (Desired)
  • Current registration as Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Bachelor of Nursing, or equivalent
  • Post-graduate qualifications, or working towards
