Job Overview

Duties

• Obtain prior authorizations for medical procedures, treatments, or services by communicating effectively with insurance companies and healthcare providers.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining the confidentiality and security of all medical records and patient information.
• Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems to accurately document diagnoses and procedures for billing and insurance purposes.
• Collaborate with medical office staff to update and manage medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness in documentation.
• Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and out-of-pocket responsibilities.
• Maintain detailed logs of verification activities, authorization requests, and responses for audit purposes.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of managed care policies, insurance verification processes, and prior authorization procedures.
• Proficiency in medical office operations including appointment scheduling, medical records management, and billing support.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
• Experience with CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical terminology for accurate documentation.
• Ability to navigate insurance portals efficiently and communicate effectively with insurance representatives.
