Nursery Head Teacher

Job Title: Head Teacher

The Head Teacher is responsible for providing leadership and management of the academic and administrative functions of the school or nursery. This role ensures high-quality education, effective staff supervision, curriculum implementation, and the overall well-being and development of students.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Academic Leadership:

  • Oversee the implementation of the curriculum and ensure teaching standards are maintained.
  • Monitor student progress and academic performance, providing guidance to teachers.
  • Encourage innovative teaching methods and continuous improvement in pedagogy.

2. Staff Management and Development:

  • Supervise and mentor teaching and support staff.
  • Conduct staff appraisals, professional development, and training programs.
  • Assist in recruitment, induction, and performance management of teachers.

3. Student Welfare and Discipline:

  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Ensure student welfare, health, and safety policies are implemented.
  • Address behavioral and disciplinary matters in line with school policies.

4. Parent and Community Engagement:

  • Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress and school activities.
  • Organize parent-teacher meetings, workshops, and school events.
  • Foster a positive image of the school within the community.

5. Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning the academic calendar, schedules, and school events.
  • Maintain accurate records of students, staff, and school operations.
  • Support budgeting, resource allocation, and facility management.

6. Policy and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and educational standards.
  • Implement school policies, guidelines, and code of conduct effectively.
  • Prepare reports for the management or governing body as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Teaching certification/license as required by local regulations.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of teaching experience; prior leadership/management experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring abilities.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, child development, and educational best practices.
