Job Title: Head Teacher
The Head Teacher is responsible for providing leadership and management of the academic and administrative functions of the school or nursery. This role ensures high-quality education, effective staff supervision, curriculum implementation, and the overall well-being and development of students.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Academic Leadership:
- Oversee the implementation of the curriculum and ensure teaching standards are maintained.
- Monitor student progress and academic performance, providing guidance to teachers.
- Encourage innovative teaching methods and continuous improvement in pedagogy.
2. Staff Management and Development:
- Supervise and mentor teaching and support staff.
- Conduct staff appraisals, professional development, and training programs.
- Assist in recruitment, induction, and performance management of teachers.
3. Student Welfare and Discipline:
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
- Ensure student welfare, health, and safety policies are implemented.
- Address behavioral and disciplinary matters in line with school policies.
4. Parent and Community Engagement:
- Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress and school activities.
- Organize parent-teacher meetings, workshops, and school events.
- Foster a positive image of the school within the community.
5. Administrative Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning the academic calendar, schedules, and school events.
- Maintain accurate records of students, staff, and school operations.
- Support budgeting, resource allocation, and facility management.
6. Policy and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and educational standards.
- Implement school policies, guidelines, and code of conduct effectively.
- Prepare reports for the management or governing body as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or related field.
- Teaching certification/license as required by local regulations.
- Minimum 5–7 years of teaching experience; prior leadership/management experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring abilities.
- Knowledge of curriculum development, child development, and educational best practices.
