Nursery Worker Duties & Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Nursery Worker supports the care and of children in the church nursery by providing a safe, clean, nurturing, and welcoming environment for children and families during Sunday morning activities.

Position Details

• Classification: Part-Time
• Supervisor: Pastor
• Oversight: Staff Parish Relations Committee
• Schedule: Sunday mornings 9:45am – 12:30pm
• Hours: Approximately 2–3 hours per week
• Compensation: $20 per hour

Responsibilities

• Follow all church and United Methodist Safe Sanctuary policies and attend required trainings.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate nursery environment.
• Supervise and care for children entrusted to the nursery.
• Ensure nursery safety procedures are followed, including awareness of fire exits and emergency plans.
• Maintain nursery attendance records, including sign-in/sign-out information and incident notes when needed.
• Report accidents, injuries, or significant incidents using church procedures.
• Help monitor volunteers to ensure appropriate care and supervision of children at all times.
• Keep nursery areas organized, stocked, and welcoming.
• Complete a background check as required by church policy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
