Job Title: Nursery/Childcare Worker Part-Time Hourly Position

Purpose: To provide children ages 0-5 years with a safe environment for play - with nurturing, dependable care along with appropriate Christian instruction on Sunday mornings, thereby allowing parents to study and worship with the knowledge that their child is having a positive, safe, and age-appropriate experience.

Accountability: The nursery worker is accountable to the Pastor and to the Christian Children’s Education Elder.

Qualifications:

- At least 18 years of age

- Experience working with and caring for young children in a professional capacity

- Person of Christian faith and positive attitude

- Satisfactory completion of background check

- Must complete the First Presbyterian Safe Church Training

- 3 references

- Early childhood education classes highly recommended

Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the well-being of nursery-age children

- Straighten the nursery and clean any toys before leaving

- Provide safe, nurturing, clean and consistent care to our young children

- Organize classroom time efficiently in order to teach a story from the Bible

- Plan, purchase and expense craft supplies that support the Bible story

- Adhere to Safe Church policies and check-in/out procedures

- Communicate by phone to the church staff: 1) any planned absences with an advance notice of at least two weeks, and 2) any unplanned absences with at least two hours’ notice prior to nursery hours.

Hours: 8:00am-12:00pm on Sundays. The nursery worker will open the nursery at 8:00am and not leave the nursery until every child has been picked up and the room tidied up. There are occasional opportunities for additional work throughout the year (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Special Events, etc.) as coordinated with the Christian Children’s Education Elder.

Compensation: $27.04 per hour

Pay: $24.52 - $29.53 per hour
