Job Title: Nutritionist, Project employment
Qualification : Degree in Clinical Nutrition/Dietetics from a recognized institution.
Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years experience in pediatric or oncology nutrition preferred.
Job Specific Competencies and Knowledge: Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, good communication skills, and familiarity with nutrition software.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Daily Rounds and Clinical Support
- Participate in daily ward rounds with the hospital team and the paediatric haemato-oncologist.
- Collaborate actively in patient reviews and multidisciplinary discussions.
- Assist in identifying patients requiring nutritional intervention based on grade of malnutrition, treatment plan, and clinical status.
2. Nutritional Screening and Assessment
- Conduct nutritional screening for all new in-patients and follow-up assessments during hospitalization.
- Calculate nutritional requirements, assess tolerance, and develop individualized nutrition plans.
- Make recommendations to the prescribing doctor based on findings.
3. Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition Management
- Discuss PN/EN indications with the treating physician.
- After medical approval, develop diet/feeding recommendations.
- Raise diet indents of in-patients and send to the dietary department.
- Ensure appropriate documentation: written orders, signed EN/PN plans, and chart notes.
4. Outpatient Department (OPD) Services
- Conduct daily OPD consultations for nutrition-related concerns.
- Monitor growth, dietary compliance, and provide recommendations for nutritional rehabilitation and support.
5. Diet Counselling and Caregiver Education
- Provide individualized diet counselling for both in-patients and OPD attendees.
- Educate caregivers on feeding techniques, transition diets, and post-discharge plans.
- Participate in parent/caregiver support group sessions when scheduled.
6. Follow-Up and Monitoring
- Coordinate follow-up care for patients discharged with NG feeds.
- Monitor patient progress, complications, and adjust plans after consulting the doctor.
7. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in patient files and the Cuddles FoodHeals app.
- Submit patient logs, intervention outcomes, and follow-up reports as required.
