Job description
Clinical Duties:
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
- Provide emergency and elective gynecological care.
- Perform and assist in surgical procedures including cesarean sections, hysterectomies, and laparoscopies.
- Participate in daily ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and emergency call duties.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation in patient records.
Patient Care & Safety:
- Monitor and manage high-risk pregnancies.
- Respond promptly to obstetric and gynecological emergencies (e.g., postpartum hemorrhage, ectopic pregnancy).
- Work collaboratively with midwives, nurses, anesthetists, and pediatricians to provide holistic patient care.
- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and surgical procedures.
Supervision & Teaching:
- Supervise and support junior doctors, interns, and medical students.
- Participate in departmental teaching sessions and contribute to medical education.
- Assist in the development of clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
Administrative Duties:
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings, mortality reviews, and audit sessions.
- Contribute to clinical governance and ongoing professional development activities.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies and national healthcare guidelines.
