Job Summary:

The OB/GYN Medical Assistant will support healthcare professionals in an OB/GYN practice by providing clinical and administrative assistance. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a compassionate demeanor, and the ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

• Assist with patient preparation for examinations, including taking vital signs and documenting patient histories.
• Provide patient education on procedures, treatments, and follow-up care.
• Assist in minor surgical procedures and obstetric/gynecologic exams.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout their visit.

Clinical Duties:

• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Perform basic laboratory tests and administer medications as directed by the physician.
• Assist Physician/Midwife with office procedures.
• Maintain examination rooms, including cleaning and restocking supplies.

Administrative Duties:

• Schedule patient appointments and manage electronic medical records.
• Handle phone inquiries and provide patients with information regarding their care.
• Assist with billing and coding for insurance purposes.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in OB/GYN.
• Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
