JOB TITLE: OB/GYN, Gynecologist

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

LOCATION: MEHOP Medical Clinic, Bay City, TX

REPORTS TO: CEO, Vibrance Health

JOB SUMMARY:

A licensed medical doctor whose focus is women’s health. Responsible for general medical care for women, but also provide care related to pregnancy and the reproductive system. Concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of general health problems with the focus on ailments specific to the female anatomy, such as breast and cervical cancer, urinary track and pelvic disorders, and hormonal disorders. OB/GYNs also specialize in childbirth, treating and counseling women throughout their pregnancy, from giving prenatal diagnoses to delivery and postpartum care. They also track the health of and treat both mother and fetus as the pregnancy progresses. Responsible for assessing and treating females suffering from medical diseases and disorders, performs regular checkups to ensure good health, and performs corrective surgery. Supervises medical staff in clinical activities, member of the Medical Peer Review Committee, the QI/QA Committee, Compliance Performance Improvement Committee and reports to the CEO and Board of Directors any negative issues of compliance or review. Acts as liaison between MEHOP and the local medical community. Coordinates services provided by sub-contract medical groups.

JOB DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Physicians and surgeons diagnose illnesses and prescribe and administer treatment for females suffering from injury or disease.
  • Examines females patients, obtain medical histories and order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests. Monitors a patient’s condition and re-evaluates treatments when necessary.
  • Counsels patients on diet, exercise, hygiene and preventive health care.
  • Refers patients to other specialists when necessary.
  • Coordinates with other staff involved with medical treatment.
  • Plans and implements health programs within businesses, schools, hospitals and the community at large.
  • Assists in developing and implementing medical care policies and procedures to ensure compliance with existing standards, practices and Federal regulations.
  • Leads clinical staff in achieving compliance with federal, state and private foundation grants.
  • Participates in OC3 team to achieve Patient-Centered Medical Home certification.
  • Participates in efforts to improve clinical efficiency (OC3) and leads clinical team in achieving new standards of performance.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates activities of clinical staff.
  • Participates in the coordination of community agencies and/or resources in providing continuity of care.
  • Obtains privileges at Matagorda Regional Hospital and Sweeny Community Hospital in order to deliver infants, perform surgery, consults physicians and specialists for referral and follow-up of patient care.
  • Directs and participates in the continuing education of the medical staff.
  • Assists with overall coordination and administration of center health care services and activities including clinical indicators, health care plan and quality assurance.
  • Strives to be an advocate for MEHOP in the local communities and participates in outreach activities after hours and on weekends.
  • On-call access by telephone after hours and weekends.
  • Some educational/conference travel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION:

  • Medical physician currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas, graduate of formal accredited medical school and board certified to practice.
  • Possesses good organizational skills, high ethical standards, well-organized, self-directed, team
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks and respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Consumer advocate for quality health care and services.
  • Responsible for performance evaluations of the health care team and staff under his/her direct supervision.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $275,000.00 - $350,000.00 per year
