Occupational Health Physician

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Provider (MD/DO, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant) to join our team. In this role, you will perform occupational health exams, provide preventive care, and support employee wellness. You will work closely with employees, HR, and safety teams to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a healthy workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-placement physicals, fitness-for-duty exams, and annual surveillance exams (hearing, vision, respirator clearances, etc.)
• Diagnose and treat work-related injuries and illnesses; provide acute care and follow-up
• Administer vaccinations and other preventive health interventions
• Educate employees on workplace safety, ergonomics, and healthy lifestyle practices
• Support workers’ compensation processes, including evaluation, documentation, and follow-up
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, ADAAA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations
• Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in EMR systems
• Collaborate with HR, safety personnel, and external medical partners on workplace health programs

Qualifications

Required:

• Licensed MD/DO, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant in [State]
• Active DEA license (if applicable)
• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in occupational health, urgent care, emergency medicine, or related field
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and workplace health regulations
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) or equivalent

Preferred:

• Certification in Occupational Health (COHN, COHN-S, or equivalent)
• DOT medical examiner certification
• Experience in employee health, surveillance programs, or workplace safety
