We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team. In this vital role, you will deliver expert occupational therapy services to a wide range of patients, helping them regain independence and improve their daily functioning. You will work in various environments including inpatient facilities, outpatient clinics, schools, and home health settings, ensuring each patient receives tailored care that promotes recovery and well-being. Duties
- Assess patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs to develop individualized care plans that promote optimal functioning.
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to foster independence.
- Implement therapeutic interventions for individuals with disabilities, autism, geriatrics, pediatrics, or those recovering from injury or illness.
- Coordinate discharge planning by preparing patients and families for transition from hospital or facility to home or community settings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, physicians, nurses, and case managers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide education and training to patients and caregivers on adaptive techniques and equipment use.
- Document patient progress accurately in medical records and adjust treatment plans as needed based on physiological responses and recovery milestones. Experience
- Proven experience working in acute care settings such as ICU or skilled nursing facilities with a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Hands-on experience with post-acute care environments including home health services and outpatient clinics.
- Background working with diverse populations such as pediatrics (including early intervention), geriatrics, individuals with autism or disabilities, and those in occupational health programs.
- Familiarity with case management processes, care plan development, discharge planning, and patient documentation standards.
- Knowledge of speech therapy techniques is a plus for integrated patient rehabilitation efforts.
- Previous roles involving inpatient or outpatient therapy services that demonstrate excellent patient care skills and teamwork. Education
Bachelors degree from a college or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Program accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association, and certification requirements of National Board for certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.
Experience
One year clinical experience, preferably in home health.
Certificate/License
Certification from the American Occupational Therapy Association Certification Board (AOTCB) or National Board for certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.
Current certification by the Virginia Board of Medicine
Valid Driver’s License with certificate of automobile insurance.
Pay: $45.00 - $51.00 per hour
