Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our interdisciplinary team in a skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate will assist in delivering high-quality occupational therapy services to residents, helping them regain independence and improve their quality of life through therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist to improve residents’ functional abilities
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with state regulations and facility policies
  • Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist
  • Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive techniques and equipment
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, physical therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
  • Participate in care planning meetings and contribute to discharge planning
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA and CMS guidelines

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Valid state license to practice as a Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and rehabilitation excellence
